The financial aid office requests a signed copy of 2006 1040…what is that, exactly? I e-filed..?

The financial aid office of a prospective university is requesting a signed copy of my “signed 1040”. What do they mean exactly? Was the government supposed to have sent me back an official copy? I completed my form online through turbo-tax e-file so I don’t have anything official on paper. Do I just need to fill out another 1040 form with the same 2006 info (from IRS website), sign it and hand it to them?

You are correct. As long as it is a signed copy of the 1040 you submitted to the IRS, it is acceptable documentation.

No.

When you e-filed, you should have printed off your copy for filing in your records. They need a copy of that, to verify income.

As well as the confirmation that you e-filed. 🙂
