Suggestions on College Majors?

I’m a college JUNIOR who has no idea what to do

I have tested every major under the sun. I have gone from a History, Physiology, Psychology, Nursing, Premed, PrePharm, CIS/CS, Math, English..

I couldn’t find anything that I wanted to do with those, so my folks said major in Business Management and that can open doors for me. I just don’t want to be a lummy working for a company to increase sales (IE Blockbuster, Chili’s, Etc).

I’d like to use my creativity and mind. I have always aspired to be some sort of teacher but with no subject or topic.

I feel like I’ve failed because my GPA isn’t perfect (3.5) and I don’t have a major.

Where do I turn? I’ve been to college assessment assistants and what not and career profile books.

What else is out there?

Try American Studies. You can take some really awesome and fun classes. You can also become a teacher with that major. If you’re artistic in any way, try art or something like that.

Hope I helped!

Does your college offer a unviersity studies major? That might be a good option if you can’t decide as you might be allowed to take X amount of hours in a variety of majors. This would include possibly having enough hours in education to be a substitute or teaching assistant. If you decide that you really want to teach, you can always go back to school to get the teaching certificate.

Having a 3.5/4.0 is a very good GPA and is definitely worth putting onto your resume. Plus, if you include the variety of skills that you picked up from doing the various majors, that will make you even more employable compared to those who just did a specific major.

Hope this helps.

Have you thought about becoming a Social Studies or Science teacher? That way you can use the science classes and psychology classes that you have taken. There is a great need in middle school for teachers. If teaching is something you would like to do, get involved now with volunteering like Big Brothers and Big Sisters, the Literacy Council (they need tutors), or a community center with at risk kids. They always need help. Talk to your advisor about what courses you would need to take. I hope this helps you. Good luck and take care.

I don’t see Civil Engineering listed. If you can do math and CIS you’d do just fine in that major. It’s also very lucrative. I’m definitely biased since I’m a recently graduated Civil Engineer, but I got hired right out of school and have a good job making good money. Forget the GPA because what’s important is the major.

insane one
You answered your own question. You said you wanted to be a teacher, well why not. You don’t have to a certain class type. Learn to be able to teach all the subjects. Then you can choose one or more later on. I know several teachers who can teach about any subject and they work as substitutes.
