Suggest a name for a general knowledge competition?
Hi everyone, I am 18 this year and thinking of organising a general knowledge competition nation wide for secondary school students (ages 15-16). Please help me think of a name that sounds relatively glam/serious yet not too stuffy! thanks (:
Some ideas i have…
General knowledge Quest
National General Knowledge Competition
The Knowledge Cup

Trivia Bowl and Knowledge Bowl come to mind. Too bad names like Trivial Pursuit and Jeopardy and Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader are already taken. You might try to think of some big organization that’ll help sponsor your competition. Would the National Honor Society help underwrite the costs for your National Honors Bowl? Would Alex Trevec and his buddies help you underwrite Junior Jeopardy? Or could you find out who made the old 1980s vintage board game Trivial Pursuit and find out if they’ll back the project and let you use the name Junior Trivial Pursuit (or Young People’s Not-So-Trivial Pursuits)? You might take some business classes (or an entire business degree) to learn how you would go about approaching people who could help you by underwriting the costs of such an ambitious project. You might even get some of your professors behind the idea. Think about what the prizes would be (cash? scholarships?), how much that would cost, and how you would generate revenue (tickets for a studio audience? radio and television broadcasts?).

The BRAIN GAME isn’t very glamorous/serious but could draw interest.
Knowledge Decathlon or Academic Decathlon might fir your requirements.
Years ago we had a TV show (nationwide) called the College Bowl- where teams from different colleges would compete each week.
