Should I get a laptop for college?

I’m starting college in the fall and I was wondering if I should get a laptop, what are the reasons why I should get one, and if so, then what kind of laptops I should get?

my brothers both got laptops for college and they love them because you can take it anywhere you want and if your dorm room is really noisy you can go to the library and work there also it’s really nice instead of having to hand write all of your papers they both have an apple computer and they love them they’re really nice don’t get viruses and are really hard to crash i wouldn’t get a dell because a lot of people end up having trouble with them

Yes, very important tool. You won’t have to go to the library constantly to type something up. It’s even better when you are connected to the Internet. I’m only home schooled, but it doesn’t mean that it is not useful to me. My laptop is my life, without it I would be lost.

I would recommend a small, easy to carry laptop. May be a Dell or an HP. Or a small Apple. The smaller, the better because they will allow you to carry them around easier. Also, don’t get one with metal on the bottom, they call them laptops so you can put it on your lap, but if the bottom is too hot then there’s no point to it.

Also, I recommend getting a flash drive. It works like a floppy only it has more space. Get one with 1GB or more and save your work on it. If someone steals your laptop and your work is saved on it then that would really suck. Always keep the flash drive safe and password protect it. I would recommend the same with the laptop.

Usually the smaller laptops run about $1000 and up.

Yea, I went with a desktop and it sucked because you don’t have a lot of room in the dorms so my desk was filled up with my computer and nothing else basically. Also it’s nice to be able to take your laptop to the library if you need to get away to study or even to Mc D’s or whereever. Plus if you go home you can take it with you to work on your homework there, it just makes life soo much easier. They have a lot of different kinds of laptops out there, i would get a common one you can trust like toshiba or dell or something like that, type laptops into google or just go to dell.com usually around this time before school you can get deals. good luck

Well a computer is almost a must. So you need to decide what it is that you want.

Desktop – Larger hard drive, more ram, multiple disk drives, cheaper, better sound and graphic cards, but they do take up more room with the tower, monitor, speakers, etc…

Laptop – Portable, smaller, but the are more expensive and you need to watch them a little more (easier to loose).

I traded in my desk top for a lap top for college, it is really convenient to take to class, use the wi-fi in the library, listen to my music wherever I am. It is just a little more convenient.

I have a Toshiba Satellite, very good machine I am very happy with it.

It is HIGHLY recommended that you do! (But may not be required.) There are some assignments that you will probably have to submit online. Having a laptop will prevent you from having to wait in line at a campus computer lab.

You’ll have to shop around in order to determine which one is right for you. There are a lot of models and brands out there. All of them come with different features and such.

Wait until you get to college. The college bookstore may sell them, give you a good deal, and install various software recommended by the college.

you don’t need one, a desktop computer works just fine..laptops are just more expensive and the computer companies tell you to buy one because they’re more portable for college

i admire my Gateway workstation. it extremely is have been given 2 GB RAM, a hundred and sixty GB HD. It runs large, very quickly, and it extremely is fantastically gentle-weight. I had an HP before, and it became very heavy and have been given warm quickly. Mine became around $six hundred, and that’s the place I have been given it became maximum suitable purchase.
