Should an executive assistant address board members with Doctorate degrees as Dr. Jones, etc?

Should an executive assistant address board members with Doctorate degrees with “Dr.” before their last name when having a conversation with them.

Generally, yes. It’s better to be safe than sorry, and if they correct you, then you’re corrected down politely (as in, “please, call me Mr.__”), not corrected up rudely (“actually, it’s Dr.__”). Just make sure you know what kind of Doctorate they have. Attorneys who have a JD (Juris Doctorate) are technically Doctors, but is is very uncommon for them to be called Dr. Although it may boost their ego if you call them Dr. the first time, which also couldn’t hurt. What kind of lawyer doesn’t try to inflate their ego, right?

yes, just as a sign of professional courtesy. Unless the person with a doctorate instructs you to call them otherwise, they should be called Dr…

i’d say as long as you’re sure they have a doctorate, yes address them as “dr.” unless they say otherwise. if you’re really unsure, try asking someone else you work with, even your boss if you feel comfortable.
