Screenwriting?
My concern is, I feel as if it is a gamble to go through with screenwriting. I’ve heard it’s not such a stable job, and it’s not easy to find a job. I want a stable job, knowing if I put so much money into school, I’ll have a good job waiting for me. I fear if I go to film school, when I graduate, I’ll have to “get lucky” to get a good job in writing/directing. Is this true?

Sign up for American Zoetrope, Francis Ford Coppola’s interactive site for writers. There, you can read other people’s submissions, evaluate them, and submit your stuff to be reviewed. It’s a wonderul site and a good place to start. As for school and fears about a career in this area, stop fearing. Go out and do it. Go to USC film school. Or the School For The Performing Arts. Or go to another school taking a different major, with some theater classes. The possibilities are endless. And the last thing you want to do is turn into someone who is fifty years old and never tried.
