School…..?
Every year, when I start school, it always starts out great, but then, as time passes I gradually get behind and get less organized, until im at C’s and D’s and F’s and a jammed locker. Any ideas on how I can either start the year different or stay on track? please anything will help! thanks!

i am in 8th grade too, and i always try to get new stuff (folders, pencils, and perhaps a binder) when i am mid-way through the year. if you dont want to buy new stuff, atleast sort through all of your folders binders and backpack, throwing away useless papers and organizing everything. then, once everything is organized and orderly, it might feel like the beginning of school again.
good luck.

With your hardest subjects, don’t study the one or two nights before the test. Study at least a week and a half ahead if you can. For math, make sure you know all of the formulas and how to solve the problems. Try testing yourself with some of the questions in your textbook. While you are taking the test, try eliminating the answers you know aren’t right, then try to make your best guess. Get one of those accordion folders ( I can’t think of what they’re called). Have tons of pieces of paper. Mechanical pencils are good. Clean out your locker and school stuff once a month. Good luck!

I think everyone has this same problem but it’s harder for some people than others. My advice would be to have a routine. Make a time to study for important tests and give yourself time for your hobbies. When you focus all your time on your studies, you slowly try to put it off so you don’t have to work on school all the time. Soon, you’ll be back at old habits.
Also, I would clean my locker and organize often. Throw away unimportant papers and NEVER let the work (or mess) pile up.
Prioritise. Know what is most important to you and put it at the top of your list.
And Finally, ask your friends for help. They can have good advice and most times you take them more seriously.

You get usually what I call the “Cresendo” syndrome. You have the effect on you in the beginning of the year as ‘I am going to get all As and study hard” but you begin to have exceptions like “ok, just 10 minutes more on this TV” or something like that…and that grows from 10 minutes to an hour to more than 5 hours each day, then thats what kills your performance…do a “system check” each day, becaues every day is a new day.

It sounds very familier. I did the same thing but dw because 8th grade don’t matter so jus hav fun. When you get to year 10 and 11 (UK education) then you have to work hard for GCSEs. Just think about how **** it will be when you do exams and get Ds and you’re parents and teachers are angry.

Keep a daily log on what classes you have and what is your homework, so you won’t have to be carrying around unnecessary junk. Also, try to clean out your locker once every two makes, don’t let it get to the point where it’s really messy…

that happens to me too. i think its because you start out clean with not as many projects and stuff but as the year keeps coming there is more stuff to keep
i recomend straightening out ur locker at least once a week
and make sure u have good orginizing things like those little tables, and pencil holder things.

Stay steady with keeping up on the readings you have to do, the homework, and on your own understanding of the material. That way when test time comes, you are refreshing your memory and not learning it all together. It’s really hard for me to take my own advice, trust me, you are not in that boat alone.

Chilax. You didn’t really give a lot of details about what really gets in the way and stuff but try not always being in a rush. Take you time. (But not that much time.)Slow and Steady wins the race.
