Reading can be the act of obtaining knowledge, the act of escaping from this world or time to another. It expands your mind and your horizons. It opens you to new ideas and concepts that you may never have thought of before. It may provoke feelings and emotions or even stir up old memories. The question is how is not rewarding?

I have to say that all of the things that other people have said are true, but for me reading expands the world beyond my own individual daily life. It doesn’t even matter if it’s fiction or non-fiction– it’s all based on someone’s reality. Things that I read in books or articles make me think about things, about life, about ideas beyond my immediate daily tasks. This is how I have felt since I was seven years old. You just CAN’T get everything from tv and the internet– not yet, anyway.

It’s very rewarding because if I could not read then I would not have learned all the things that I have learned.
You can’t learn everything from watching television, lol.

Reading makes you smarter. It doesn’t even matter what it is that you read. It makes you sharper, you speak more articulately, and all this before you can even realize it. It really does do wonders. Reading current events on a regular basis does more wonders for the brain than anything else.
