No, a pronoun can be a subject, of course, but so can a verb (infinitive or gerund) or even a clause.

“He” is my friend.

“To err” is human.

“Doing exercise” is not something I enjoy.

“That the sentence is more complicated than you thought” must be clear by now.

Subjects are in quotes.

In addition to the above, you can have a gerund: “Sleeping” is one of his favorite activities.” or “Jumping out of airplanes” has never appealed to me.
