ode to a strawberry:
oh fruit that hangs 5 inches high
a silhouette against the sky
when viewed from below by creatures small
and red when viewed by creatures tall
who’s crimson skin contains the seeds
that take thy goodness as they need
and sprout and grow another plant
or fall as food for tiny ants
oh strawberry! your life was short
you cannot speak, so no retort
you grow in ones, never two
ah, screw this, time to EAT YOU!
lol
Sweet
Tangy and tart
Ruby red fruit
Afternoons on the porch swing
With Mom and Dad
Building shapes in the clouds
Eating with sugar or cream
R…

You can finish the rest with the child. Hope it helps inspire you!
Juicy and red
Strawberries
Dripped on your shirt
Stained
You’re dead.
