U.S. Marshal Matt Dillon was on his last rounds of the day. He decided to top the evening off with a quick look-see at the Long Branch; The saloon owned and managed by Miss Kitty Russell, his former girlfriend. As he started through the swinging doors, the resident poet of the territory, a Mr. Elmer T. Fuddinski, was weaving his way out……””Shhhhhhhh, be vewy vewy quiet; I’m hunting wabbits, heheheheheheh.”

Matt shook his head in wonderment and walked in, just in time to break up a quarrel at one of the card tables…..

Angry cowpoke:(4) “Three Aces on the Bottom of the Deal ?!! DRAW!! And I don’t mean another card!!”

Matt:” Hold it right there!! Put your gun away!”

One look in his direction was all it took. The cowpoke brushed past Matt, glaring at the cheat……..(6)” Hey Bartender! Gimme a whiskey!!” Things settled down and the piano man continued his rousing rendition of the current hit song:

♫ (3)”Death Letters In The Sand Is Better Than No Mail At All.” ♫

Kitty Russell sat in the corner, watching Matt.

She was waiting for just the right moment to corner him. She stood up, straightened her corset and sashayed over to Matt’s side. Although she knew that he was living with his new girlfriend, Sunshine MacGillicutty, Kitty refused to give up her efforts to woo him back .

Kitty:”Hello, cowboy.” She batted her false eyelashes so rapidly, one of them dropped off.

Matt:” ‘Lo, Kitty. Ooops! Something fell on your shoulder.” She brushed it off quickly.

Kitty:” It’s good to see you. I thought you might be (2) On the Road Again.” She paused . Oh, Mattttttttttttt………. You know…. You MUST know how much I need you. I miss you desperately, you big studmeister!” She put her arm through his.

Matt: “Kitty……. Please stop. You know as well as I do….(1) The Thrill Is Gone.” He started to leave.

Kitty:”But Matt!!! It’s not gone for ME!!! Talk to me!! Say something….ANYTHING!!”

Matt paused, and thought for a minute …..

“Uhhhhhh……..(5)Later Alligator.”

No. I said, and went on to help someone more deserving.

Homework is a pain in the ***, but it’s worth it and the consequences of not doing it are low grades, low self esteem, hating school, angry parents, and awkwardness around teachers. The best thing to do is just DO the homework. Don’t try to think, “I shouldn’t…” or doubt yourself – just do it! You have to be smart about it, do the homework that is most important first, leave the little things for last, take frequent breaks, no eating while working as it’s distracting, NO TV until you are COMPLETELY done.

Hey bartender, could I get a later alligator before I get on the road again? I don’t feel like playing poker here anymore, the thrill is gone. Wait! There’s three aces on the bottom of the deal, and its my turn to deal, maybe I’ll stay. oooh ****, this probably will be my death letter.

No, I don’t think I will help you. You are old enough to know how to do homework yourself, and if you just have to get help, go to the Homework Help category, not words and wordplay.

Added later: People, I think he is b.s.ing us.

ROSE
As Russell rode his Harley-Davidson through the night, he was surveying the towns passing by, through the darkened

visor of his helmet. “Here I go, (2)on the road again!”, he murmured to himself.

Finally he arrived at an old, quiet looking town and pulled over outside a western style bar, hoping to put his dark thoughts aside while chugging down a few beers. He walked inside with the (3)death letter he had received from Jimmy, his ex brother-in-law, still lingering on his mind. That guy was a gung-ho redneck who was more than ready to shoot him when he learned that he was divorcing his sister. Despite Russell’s best attempts in parting amicably and leaving the house and the property he had owned all to his ex-wife, that guy still wouldn’t let up. He had started spreading rumors in town about him, not to mention a number of death threats via those inarticulate letters he was leaving by his door.

Packing up and leaving was his only way to save his sanity. Sherry was a good girl but he wasn’t attracted to her anymore and for Russell, when (1)the thrill is gone, there was no point in dragging the relationship. He probably shouldn’t have married her to begin with, but hey, we all make mistakes.

As he stepped inside and approached the bar, he called out, “(6)Hey Bartender! Give me a double scotch, make it neat”. He figured a couple of beers wouldn’t cut it, and he could sleep over at the inn across the street after getting done here. Right now, he just needed some loosing up and he needed some scotch to smoothen out the rough edges.

As he took a big gulp from the scotch the bartender had placed infront of him, his mind seemed wholly taken up with reminiscences of past events.

The last time Russell and his ex-brother in law had had a relatively decent interaction was a week before the seperation announcement;

Russell and Jimmy were accompanied by a couple of guys named Pete and Nelson that Jimmy had grown up with, as they were all seated around a poker table. Something in the way Pete’s eyes glinted everytime it was his turn to deal, didn’t seem right. It didn’t help to ease Russell’s mind that every single time Pete dealt, Jimmy ended up winning with far superior cards.

Finally, when Jimmy put down three cards to change and Pete reached the bottom of the deck to deal them out, Russell jerked up to his feet and grabbed his arm, he yanked the deck of card out of Pete’s hand and wasn’t too surprised to find (4)three aces on the bottom of the deal, which Pete was sneakily about to serve to Jimmy. After that, all hell broke loose and Russell and Jimmy haven’t spoken to eachother directly ever since.

It didn’t help fix the matters when Russell announced that him and Sherry were divorcing. Initially, they were just anonymous phone calls that started bothering him, eventually, they turned into death threats via poorly written letters. The police thought it was all the work of a prankster and that they all knew Jimmy since he was a little kid and practically grew up with him. Nope, the police had no intention of doing anything unless they saw Jimmy wielding a bloody axe over Russell’s head.

Russell didn’t want to take his chances and left, leaving it all behind. He simply got on his beloved Harley, took one look back at the place filled with those mind-numbing memories and said, “See you (5)later alligator”, with the full intention to make that later, never.

The bartender, noticing his empty glass asked him if he wanted another one. “Why the hell not?”, he responded, since he was spending the night at the inn that night.

He knew he would sleep better with a few doubles of scotch in him.

Then she walked in.

The strong and toned legs that carried her athletic body were crowned by the most beautiful head he had laid his eyes on in a very long time. As their eyes met and she smiled, Russell thought to himself, “Sleep is overrated. I’ll sleep when I’m dead”, and offered to buy her a drink.

Later into the night, as they were both drinking and laughing themselves silly, Russell looked at her straight in the eyes and said, “God bless the broken road that led me straight to you”.

Russell didn’t notice the slight change in her demeanor when they were both getting ready to leave.

Neither did he notice her discreet signal to the two guys that were sitting in a dark corner in the bar and have been watching Russell since he arrived at their town, on his motorcycle.
