AMIRHOSSEIN K, I hope you ignore his stupid comment. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with your question.
Here’s an explanation:
If 80 people fly, they are charged RM250, therefore:
80 x RM250 = RM20,000.
So, if the airline has 80 passengers, the revenue (the money the airline will make) will be RM20,000.
However, after the 80 people are charged, every person after that will get a discount of RM5, therefore paying RM245. So, since the plane can hold a maximum of 120 passengers, if we assume the plane is going to be full, we have:
120 passengers – 80 passengers = 40 passengers
Therefore, 40 passengers will get the RM5 discount and will be charged RM245 each.
40 passengers x RM245 = RM9,8000
So:
The revenue from 80 passengers is RM20,000
The revenue from 40 passengers is RM9,800
RM20,000 + RM9,8000 = RM29,800
So If N is 120 (i.e. 120 passengers), the revenue obtained by the company is RM29,800:
N = 120
80 passengers x RM250 = RM20,000
120 passengers – 80 passengers = 40 passengers
40 passengers x RM245 = RM9,800
RM20,000 + RM9,800 = RM29,800
If N is, let’s say, 99 (i.e. 99 passengers), the revenue obtained by the company is RM24,655
If N = 99
80 passengers x RM250 = RM20,000
99 passengers – 80 passengers = 19 passengers
19 passengers x RM245 = RM4,655
RM20,000 + RM4,655 = RM24,655
Hope that helps.
