Okay.. I have a question about college.?

I’m only 13, but I have my future planned. I want to be a photographer with a degree in cosmetology too. I also want to own my own business. (So, I would also have to take classes in business)

-This is what I want to know, How much would all of the classes cost?

-Also I want to know, How much would I make with having a degree in cosmetology, business, and photograghy. (Cause I would have half of the store be, uhm a hairstyling and makeup type thing and the other half of the store to be photography. I was thinking that it would come in handy around prom time.)

Although I don’t know if I would be able to do that. .. So how much would I make and how much time would it take to finish all of these classes. – oh and how much would the classes cost?\

Thanks

Have you talked to your parents about this? I highly recommend it and school counselors or career counselors at school. Then send letters to colleges and they will gladly give you advice and tips, and more information for you. Well also you can go after school to talk to them, your teacher would also be supportive too if you talk to them about your goal and you will not missed out classes. Again, it is nice to your planning your future unlike many other kids, but don’t put too much pressure on yourself or you will overwhelm yourself into a metal breakdown. Slow down take one day at a time, You still got like 6 years before you graduate from grade 12, and by then you may change your mind who knows. People change their mind about career they want quite often through out their life time. But I like your commitment to a goal that you are willing to work on. Good luck.

Howdy Chickadee! You sound all fired up and ready to DO GOOD THINGS!

Soct wise, it is going to depend on what schools you go to and where you live. This will all change in 5 years, so it is futile to get figures now. Same answer for your income questions. It depends on what you do with your expertise and where you live and what your specific niche is! Let me give you some suggestions:

First, do the best you can do in school right now! That will give you scholarship opportunities that you would not have with bad grades in high school! Secondly, focus on attending a community college first! IT is cheapest, you are close to home and you can get your general education that you have to get anyway out of the way. In the summers sign up for classes at the Beauty college, or take photography classes at the community college, or with the Recreation depertment! After you get your AA at the 2 year college (Make sure that they are transfer certifiable classes to the university you want to go to! Then you can take a year off and go to beauty school and get your liscense there. OR, you can go to beautiy school and get your liscense first then do your 2 year work so that you have a job to fall back on while you go to school full time later…..Then once you decide what your forte is, you can major in the 4 year college in either photography, stage, theater or whatever it is you are aiming for to be at that time. With all of that if you find your talent lies mostly in, you can concentrate on that. I have a friend that did the 2 years as general ed. Did beauty school, continues her university education as a Psychology Major and now has a MA in Psychology and is a Marraige and Family counselor! She is 26 and happy as can be, AND still can do hair and makeup! SHe does work prom time and does do-ups for her friend who owns a salon here. So, you never know what you can accomplish when you decide you want to do something. But, start working on it now by learning about cameras and photography and developing and stuff, if they do nto offer it at your school, find somewere to learn about it as I said abouve and start looking into beautiy schools and photography schools like the Brooks Institute! You sound like a fantasitc kid and you will go far!

It is never to early to start planning your dreams and your thinking logically about what you need to achieve them. However, any costs that anyone would give you now, would be way off base. Tuition fees will have increased by the time you are college age. Just to give you an example of tuition when I started college, tuition was $81 per term; when I finished college, it was almost $500 per term. This does not include books, housing, or food and this was 20 years ago. College cost are always increasing, so no one at this time can tell you what it will cost financially to reach you goal.

I would suggest making sure that you save for college and talk to you school counselors. They can help you plan what you need to take in college to achieve your goals. It will take hard work to achieve your dream, but if it is truly what you want you will succeed.
