Number of applicants to Harvard every year?
What is the percentage of acceptance? Serious answers only, please.

Okay, the person above me needs a shove in the face. If my uncle, who lives in a foreign country could get into Harvard, then possible anyone can. It’s not like you need perfect grades. Jeez.
ANYWAYS. I have this book which gives statistics about the average amount of applicants to Harvard:
In 2007,
22,754 applied
9% accepted
1,686 enrolled (79%)
95% from top tenth of their h.s class
To apply to Harvard, they require: an essay, SAT subject tests, SAT or ACT, a high school transcript, an interview, and 2 recommendations. Application deadline: 1/1; 2/1 priority date for financial aid. Deferred admission is possible.

Reference #1 says 2000 of 13000 applicants are accepted, which is about 15%. Reference #2 is Harvard’s application numbers for ’07.
