No grants from Fafsa but will at least get best possible loans?

I know I make too much money to get grants or free money from Fafsa, but will the student loans be the best and cheapest available? Or should I look elsewhere?

Federal student loans (Stafford and PLUS) generally have the lowest interest rates and most generous repayment terms. If you’ve already filled out the FAFSA you should be eligible for a Stafford – there’s no credit check or income requirement for that one, but there is a limit to how much money you can take out.

If Stafford doesn’t cover it, then if possible have your parents apply for a PLUS loan. If that’s not an option there are private student loans available to those with decent credit (or a cosigner with decent credit.) Private loans should only be used after you’ve maxed out the federal money that’s available to you.

Check with the Financial Aid office of the school you’re going to attend – they should be able to guide you how to apply for the Stafford.

Well student loans of course you have to pay, so just be prepared for this when you finish school. I believe its 6 months after you graduate. The loans are for students that are in need of funds but just only get what you need.
