Need help with my TI-83 Calculator?

We’re supposed to compute means with a frequency table, and I can’t figure out how to do it. These are the steps I’ve followed.

1.)Enter the frequency table in the calculator, x values (L1), and frequencies L2

2.)Select 1-VAR stats in Calc menu and enter

3.)Calculator asks for lists. Type in L1, L2 and Enter

4.)The calculator will give a list of numbers

When I do this I get an error message. What I’m I doing wrong?

Enter the data into L1 and L2 respectively, then hit the “2nd” button and hit STAT. Go over to MATH and find “mean” below. hit that and you should see “mean( “.

Then hit “2nd” again and enter L1 (usually the number 1 button) then enter a “,” then enter L2 (usually the number 2 button).

Finally close the parentheses and hit ENTER.

I’ve used both. They are almost exactly the same. The functions are the same, the layouts are the same, and from a functional perspective, everything is the same. The only differences are aesthetic (84 is more attractive), and the memory on the 84 is bigger, which means that the 84 is faster, too, but unless you’re doing some serious calculations or apps, it’s not really noticeable. The 84 also comes with more apps by default, and it comes with a cable and software so that you can connect it to your computer. It’s a little pricier, but not by too much. If you want an 84, yes, you can absolutely get it instead of an 83. Functionally, they are the same. The keys are the same and everything; they just look different, but everything’s in the same place, and everything works the same way.
