Math Math MAth questions?!!?
Where g to the power m =8, then 8g=___
Ms. Meeks was forced to withdraw 1/3 of the money in her saving account. During April, she withdraw 1/5 of the money remaining after the March withdrawl. At the end of April the account had $8000 in it. If there were no other transactions during these months, how much money was in the account immediately prior to the first withdrawl?
For every 15 gallons of fuel that is consumed, a rocket will rise 12 miles. If 105 gallons of fuel are consumed per minute, how far will the rocket rise in 2 minutes?
If u glad to help, i will be very happy…thank u thank u!! help me with steps too, please!!

#2 g^(m+1) = 8g
#3 4/5(2/3 * final amount of $) = original amount of $
8/15 * $ = 8000
$ = 15000
#4 105+105 = 210 divide by 15 from 15 gallons
equals 14 multiply by 12 from 12 miles
This is total miles 170 miles
80% of P = $54, so,
1% of P = 54/80, so,
100% of p = $54/80 multiplied by 100
=$67.5.
I tend to agree with one of the previous answers, giving 16, but there are many combinations to give the original statement.
Consider this for the third question:
After taking 1/3 of the money out, she has 2/3 of it left. she then takes 1/5 of that remaining 2/3, which is 1/5 times 2/3 of the original amount, and = 2/15. so, she has taken out 1/3 and 2/15 of the original amount. Now,
1/3 + 2/15
=5/15 + 2/15
= 7/15, so the amount remaining in her account is
1 – 7/15
=15/15 – 7/15
=8/15, so,since you are told that the amount remaining is
$8000, then,
8/15 of original amount = $8000, then,
1/15 of original amount = $1000, and then the original amount
= $15000. The last problem has been adequately explained.
Hope this helps, Twiggy.
1) Original price =x. Discount = 20%. Therefore,
x-0.2*x = 54 , or 0.8x = 54. Solving, we get x = 67.5
2) The only set of numbers that match g to the power of m = 8 are g=2, m=3. Since 2 to the power 3 = 8. Therefore 8g = 16
3) if the original amout = x, then
2/3(x)*4/5 = 8000 . Therefore, x = 15000.
4) In 2 minutes the rocket will guzzle 210 gallons. Therefore, 15 gallons will take the rocket up by 12/15*210 = 168 miles
let x be the original price.
hence, x-(x*20/100)=54
x-0.2x=54
0.8x=54
x =54/0.8 = $67.5
Therefore, the original price isi $67.5
solution 2:
your question is not clear…. sorry dear!
solution 3:
Money in the savings bank at the end of April = $ 8000
Let the balance in the account in March = x
x-(x * 1/5)=$8000
x-0.2x= 8000
0.8x=8000
x=8000 / 0.8 =10000
let the money in the account prior to first withdrawal be y
y-(y * 1/3) = 10000
2y/3 = 10000
2y = 30000
y = $15000
therefore, the money in the account prior to first withdrawal is $15000
solution 4:
for every 15 galons of fuel consumed, the distance the rocket rises = 12 miles
therefore, for 105 galons of fuel consumed per minute, the distance the rocket rises = (105 / 15) * 12 = 84 miles
hence the rocket travels 84 miles in 1 minute
in 2 min, the rocket rises by (84 * 2)= 168 miles.
hope this helps…
since m=8 then it is mg
