Looking for Information Regarding College Scholarship/Funds for Children of Widowed Mothers?
I’m an 18 y.o. HS graduate, class of 2006, and I’ve taken the past year off from any form of schooling. However, last fall I was accepted to the University of Southern Maine in Gorham, ME (I live in Maine), and I took a deferment until this coming fall. Unfortunately I am a terrible procrastinator and just finished the FAFSA and housing application a few days ago. I’ve gotten all the information regarding Federal Student Aid options, but I need to get more money – loans, scholarships; whatever. People have been telling me for years that since my father died when I was only 6 and my mother has never remarried that there should be special programs that would drastically lower my college expenses. I have a younger brother who is 16 and a HS senior this coming fall. I’m set to enroll in September with a major in Theater. Does anybody know of any programs that would be available to me since my mother is a widow? Any help here would be hot. Thanks…

while I don’t know of any specific scholarships for that directly. You should try various scholarship sources like fastweb or http://www.win-college-scholarships.com gives information on grants, scholarships and education. it can be used for any school or program. Plus there are 100’s of other great scholarship sites out there. the key is to apply to as many as you can.

Sometimes the school you go to will have special funding, be sure to check with them too.
