Logical Reasoning. Answers make no sense O.o?

Shoes come in half-sizes such as 8, 8+1/2, 9…; jackets run in full sizes such as 42,43,44…;socks also run in full sizes. One usually buys socks that are 2 to 2+1/2 sizes bigger than one’s shoe size. Assume that jacket and shoe size are directly related.

Jack wears a size 42 jacket and size 9 shoes. Bill wears a size 40 jacket and size 8 shoes. Carlos buys socks that are size 12. Which of the following is most likely his jacket size?

A-39

B-41

C-43

D-45

E-47

I got as an answer 44. No answer choice? Thanks for checking my work.^^

For every 1 size bigger in shoe size, jacket size increases by 2.

42 – 2*9

= 42 – 18

= 24

Let s = shoe size

j = jacket size

Then j = 2s + 24

Carlos buys size 12 socks. His shoe size is then likely to be 9.5 or 10. So we need to figure it out for BOTH possibilities.

For s = 10,

j = 2*10 + 24

j = 44 This is what you got, but the answer isn’t there

For s = 9.5

j = 2*9.5 + 24

j = 19 + 24

j = 43

So answer C is the best answer.

I hope this helps!

His socks are 12 so his shoes are 10 his jacket would be 43 jacks is a 9 shoes and 42 jacket so Calos would have to be 10,his socks are 12 so jacket would be 43. Jack has 9 shoe sohis is 42 just compare jack with carlos.

i got D-45. if the person buys a 42 size jak and 9 then the socks are 11….and 40 jak with size 8 shoe and 10 sock size…hmm..so size 12-12 1/2 sock…is 10 shoe size…hm im really not sure but i think that you get 45 because of the half size. 12 alone would be 44 but 12 and a half gets you 45! woot….well good luck, this is just my logic…
