Is this normal???
Just wondering….im 13 and turning 14 in january and going to grade 8. Is this normal? I never failed but i did go to school in europe for like half a year. Most people say i should be in grade9?

Ages in grades vary by when you were born. I was 17 when I graduated, most are 18 and some even 19 withour ever having failed.
turning 14 halfway through the schools year is about right for the eighth. Completely normal age.

Most people in the 9th grade are 14 and turn 15 years old during the school year. I have a several students who are older because of the date their birthdays are on or because of moving around and a couple who are younger but 14 and 15 year olds are the norm for 9th grade.

It seems normal. You were born in January so you would have missed the December cutoff for kindergarten so you are probably a little older than some kids. I live in California and most kids were either 13 or 14 during 8th grade. And it’s not so bad being a little older- you get to drive sooner than everyone else!

well i am going to 9th grade and i am 13 but i am a year younger than everybody. but normally 14 year old are going to 9th grade but if you go to scool in europe and didnt speak english or something then they keep you back a year. There are a lot of germn kids in my school that move back a grade then what they aresupposed to be in because the way the two school do things are different so they are held back a year

No, you’re just fine. I teach 4th grade and most of my students are 9 years old and turn 10 during the school year.
Add 4 more years of age and 4 more grades and you have 8th grade and 13 years old.

it depends on what grades you have already completed. Also when you originally enrolled in school your first year they would have a cut off date say turn 5 before sept.1 to enter kindergarten. Then you would just progress in natural order. unless you just happen to be more advanced and can handle 9th grade.

yes its normal I’m going into 8th grade too but when i go back to school I’m going to be 15! i stayed back in 2nd grade and I’m supposed to be in 10th grade!
also I’m older than everyone-14 or 13 me- 15!
everyone was and still is surprised when i told them its soo funny!
i like it b/c i get to drive sooner!!

THATS TOTALLY NORMAL…IM 12 ALMOST 13 AND GOING INTO GRADE 8 AND EVERYONE SAYS IM TOO YOUNG…I HAVE A FRIEND WHO IS TURNING 15 IN 8TH
