Is there a word for giving inanimate objects animal characteristics?
I know that ‘personification’ is where you give something human characteristics, but would it be correct to use that word if you give something animal characteristics?
For example, in Fahrenheit 451, the author describes a hose as a python that is spitting it’s venomous kerosene to the world.
Would it be correct to call it ‘personification’ if it has animal characterisitics? Or is this just a different form of a metaphor?
