Is Obtaining an MS in Biology difficult?

I want to know from other fellow biology graduates what I need to expect with a MS program focusing on zoology. I will have a teaching assistantship and 9 credit hours of classes. I have been recently married to an understanding and supportive wife, but I still want to find the time to spend with her while I am balancing grad school. If anyone can give me any advice or pointers about grad school in general or what to expect, that would be great.

I’m not in Bio, but I’m a math grad student.

Yes, grad school is hard. It is nothing at all like undergrad. You are always going to feel overwhelmed and you’ll never get as much work done as you wanted to. You’ll study real hard, think you’ve mastered the material, and still fail exams.

With this said, I love it. Nothing will challenge you more, it’s a great feeling to get kicked in the face and know you have the strength to come back for more. You will still be able to balance your home life.

The best thing about grad school- everything you work with thinks just like you. All of your new friends will have the same interests.

Kudos to you for having a wife and continuing with your school!
