No, it is NOT normal. I’m wondering why the professor hates you.

It’s normal to have a professor who does not share your ideas and opinion, but to HATE you is pretty extreme.

Try not to be antagonistic toward this professor. Be cordial and courteous. Remember, he’s going to be grading your paper and giving you a grade.

Sometimes, professors come across as aloof and unapproachable, but are really very thoughtful. So, you don’t have to like this professor, and the professor doesn’t have to like you, just as long as he is fair and knowedgeable of his material.

Good luck to you!

I have been a professor for ten years and was a student, including graduate studies, for another ten.

I have never hated a student nor felt a professor hated me. I have found some students immature, annoying, or disruptive to the point where they were a pain, but hate is a strong word.

Many of my friends are faculty colleagues. We may share stories about students who are nuisances, but I never hear language that would make me suggest these professors hate their students.

So I would have to say no – it is not normal.

Why do you ask – maybe those on Yahoo Answers can help with your situation?

Yes. Unfortunately, there are many teachers who do not actually like students. My worst one was way back in grade school. All you can do is to be sure this is the one class where you are prepared each and every day. On time, all your books and papers, notebook, pens and pencils–everything you need to bring to class. You must read every assignment, do every lab, complete all homework (copy it over if the first draft is not really, really neat)–in other words, do not give this professor any room to complain. Not that this will stop him, but you and all the others in the class will know that’s he’s way out of line. Whatever you do, do not react to his abuse. You’re attitude must always be “Yes, sir, thank you, sir”. You can’t fight him, but by being always prepared, always polite, you’ll win. Trust me.

yes…………it,s normal……….but the fact is…..they don,t hate you…..just seem,s like they do…….it,s psychology…many student,s will perceive this & try harder to turn this hatred into aproval…….I don,t personally aprove of this method…but some teacher,s have different way,s of teaching……just do your best…..they will recognise your effort & lighten up!…..good luck!……………by the way…….a realy good teacher will find a way to make the subject matter interesting….therefore you will naturally be inquisitive & want to learn……unfortunatly….not all can do this….they have the knowlage but find it difficult to convey this to their student,s….so they resort to different aproach,s.
