Is it better going to a technical school or University?

I’m graduating from High school. Technical school is sort of like a training school, right? After technical school, is it an option to go to the University?

Well from my experience i’ll give the answer. But yes, it is “always an option” to go to college after technical school or training. You may even be able to apply some of the credits towards the college courses or field of study you take. (talk to the college dean first before you do anything, it won’t hurt.)

BUT ask yourself the famous question that has been asked from several people just like yourself; ” do i have the money for college, and the long range persistance for college, and the nescessary preparedness..?

Depending upon what your course studies look like, (what was your GPA’ and; can i pass the college entry exam) meaning whether or not you feel you have the aptitude to attend college, the technical school standpoint to say, is, to train you alot quicker to prepare you for the job market; making an income sooner. But here’s some pro’s and conns to think of. Technical scool will train you and you will learn a certain depth of knowledge and be making a healthy income…sooner. On the other hand a university, will teach you a more in depth vast amount of knowledge, and if you are successful in graduating and retaing the knowledge and can apply it to the useful real world, you’ll make much more income. Smarter , well educated people usually make higher incomes!

So thinning it out heres what you got:

1- technical school= shorter course, less studies, good money.

2- college or university= longer course, more studies, more money.

————–but this doesn’t always apply. There are some people who have become guru’s of money making, who have a knack for it, who don’t even have degrees. So ? Go figure.

Whatever you do, i suggest if you have a goal, get yourself disciplined and crack open the books. Either one will be great, as its always good to have a certificate or degree to fall back on……good luck, god bless, happy trails

Most tech schools don’t have an option to transfer to a university unless it is the private university they are connected with. Which equals more student loans since it is another private school. That is something to consider if you don’t plan on being done right after the tech school. If you want to go to a state university your credits won’t be transferable. If you want to get a higher degree like a PhD or a masters I suggest the traditional route. But if you just want a career in medical billing or something like that then go with the tech school.

For software engineering, I would suggest attending a University. But the best thing to do would be to find some software engineers and ask them. Especially ask hiring managers which one they prefer. Just go Google some companies and find some numbers and ask away.
