No, I do not think that this is an honors level book. I used to teach English and I recommend Speak for an honors class. It deals with advanced and complex emotional situations but uses language that an advanced 8th grade English class should be able to digest. Also, the main character is about that age.

Yes, I think it is a good book. And as for To Kill A Mocking Bird, I read that in 8th grade, but I heard it was moved up to 10th grade reading level…that book wasn’t the best, but A Walk To Remember will be a favorite among students. They can relate.

I thought this book was trite. I’m all for incorporating modern literature into the classrooms, but if the choice is this book, I would stick with a classic, like To Kill A Mockingbird.

Yes it is. It’s a really good movie too. But you should definitely read the book first and then watch the movie. It has Mandy Moore in it.
