The first year was the hardest, second was actually the easiest.

It really depends on the school. As a general rule, the first year is the hardest to “weed out” people that don’t belong. The second year tends to be the year when you read a whole lot, and the third is when you concentrate on a certain kind of law but somewhat coast by. Now, that’s just a general statement. I’m going to be attending Baylor, where all 3rd year students are required to do mock trials in addition to all their classes. I think it would be a good idea to talk to someone who is going into their third year of whatever law school you’re going to (or want to go to) to find out first hand.

In most schools, your first year is filled with all the required courses, bigger class size, and more traditional socratic method. By your second year, most of your 1L requirements are done and professors let up quite a bit. But most of all, you know now exactly what to expect. The subject matter is easier and your general approach to each course will go to habit mode rather than approaching it from scratch.
