Interior Design School: Where to start?

I’m very interested in enrolling in an Interior Design School. Anybody have any suggestions. I’m in Dallas, and looking at Art Institure of Dallas, El Centro, or TCU. I’m curious as to how much the entire program is going to cost (preparing for that student loan) and the pros and cons of the Interior Design field as far as school is concerned.

I am not from your area, so I don’t much much about schools near you. I have heard great things about the Art Institute in general and know the one in Dallas is accredited by CIDA(Council for Interior Design Accreditation), which is good. You can check CIDA’s website for other schools.

Almost all schools have tuition costs listed on their websites, so I would check sites for schools you are interested in for that.

If you are looking for pros for going to school for interior design… alot of states require a license to practice interior design(I think TX does, not sure though). Also, you will want to sit for the NCIDQ exam(National Council for Interior Design Qualification). NCIDQ requires 6 years of combined college level education and work experience(usually 4yrs school, 2yrs work) to sit for the exam. I would say that is a pretty good pro for education!

im not sure about the whole school thing but interior design as a career field lately has been slow with the big hype of do it yourself! but interior design will always be around but ti goes through it times
