If you were on the library board of a large city library, what would you advocate?
Let’s say your voice alone could make a difference. People say they need more computers, or more DVDs, or more Reference Books, or something grander! Let’s say there is a possibility of a vast virtual library open to the world.
But there is limited funding, (no surprise there).
What would you say needs further development?

Computers would be great, but I would really like to hook up all card holders to university-level research databases like LexisNexis, Westlaw, ProQuest, JSTOR, HeinOnline, Factiva, EBSCO, and the like. There’s just so much great information out there but it’s all locked away in private subscription databases that most members of the public don’t have access to.
