If you wanted to go to college for writing what would that be called?

Your major could be creative writing, English or journalism. Some schools have more specialized degrees, too.

You could get a degree in Journalism and write for magazines or newspapers. You could also major in English with a focus on Creative Writing. The most career-wise path to take, however, would be majoring in English, getting a Master’s degree of Fine Arts in Creative Writing, and then pursuing a Ph.D. in English.
