I’m pretty sure that NO grade is inserted. If you get credit for AP exam grades, you get just that: credit hours. But that doesn’t add in to your college grades or GPA. If they did, it wouldn’t be worth getting credit for the class with a 3 if you had to start with a low GPA.

It’s like… I got credit for Spanish 1 in high school for a test that I took in 8th grade. The credit shows up on my high school transcript, but it doesn’t have a grade. AP tests with colleges are the same way.

Of course, if you do actually get a “grade” for it, it would be different at different schools, just like you get different credit for different scores at different places. You’d have to look at the college websites, but I’ve never heard of them giving a number grade for AP credit.

Like a couple of the above people stated, no grade would be inserted, just the credit.

However, few school accept a 3 on an AP test. More and more high schools are requiring students to take AP classes and the AP tests. Thus, not just the best students are taking the exams anymore. It is easier to get a 3, 4, or 5 than it was years ago. Make sure that the school you are going to actually takes the credit for a 3 on an exam. It may be easier to get the credit if exam is no associated with your major. For example, a science major may get credit for a 3 in U.S. History, but not for a 3 in Biology.

Nope–if you get credit, it will just be inserted as transfer credit, and you won’t get a grade on the subject (at least at most institutions–the ones that do usually just give A’s or 5s and 4s). So you’ll have credit for the course, but no grade.

At my college, I didn’t find any grades on my transcript for my Ap classes. The credits were just labeled as the course subject and the Ap score was shown for granting credit (like TR4 stands for transfer credit with a score of 4 on the AP exam).

ugh i dont get why so many people dont get this. your grade on the AP exam has nothing to do with your actual grade in the class.

You could have a 75 average in an AP class and still get a 5 on the exam and i definately know people who A-ed AP US history and got 2s on the exam.

Your AP exam score is only for college purposes. As for your grade, most private colleges only accept 4 or 5s. Some public colleges accept 3s but not many anymore.
