Typically, you can take all of your core classes (English 101, Biology 101, etc.) at JC, but you want to be sure that they will transfer before you waste your time and money.
The local community college where I live has a partnership with many universities in my state for particular fields of study, however I found out the hard way (bad advise from a JC counselor) that I had taken 2 classes at JC that did not count toward my transfer to a 4-year university.
The Classes will have a Different name to them.
Introduction to Child Development
Early child Development
Communication in the preschool
The Preschool Child
First Aid and CPR( a Must)
Home-Child-Community Relations
Infant and Toddler
Child Abuse Education
Health and safety for children
These are some of the classes that you will need to take at a JC and then Transfer to a 4 year. You will also have to take classes for your General Ed Classes. I hope this will help.
Before doing anything else, call the counseling department at the junior college you will attend. Your counselor/adviser can assist you in planning the next two years. This person can help with financial aid and smooth your transition to college.
