Identity of old navy uniform jacket..?
I found an old naval uniform jacket at local estate sale, very heavy wool type long coat, grey in color with grey metal buttons with embossed anchors..has redish maroon patches on collars with sewn metal #3s on each, the appelets have sewn metal insignia of 2 crossed cannons with cannon ball beneath them and wave like symbol under that, there is no identifying labels inside, except for printed 3 crowns(2 on top of 1), and lettering of N104M under that..this is inside under back collar, any help would be greatly appreciated!

Dear Robbie:
I would check with Annapolis Naval Academy. If you could get them a picture, I bet they could tell you. The other alternative you have is to try the Smithsonian Museum website. It certainly sounds like it is late 1800’s to 1900’s. But……….I could be wrong. That picture would be really helpful.
