I work at…….?

I work at Hooters right now because there is not much where i live and that is the first place i got a job, because i need money for figure skating, my mom doesn’t care, but i am worried about college. I am 18 and I will be graduating soon. I am a valedictorian and have many scholarships. I have never been in trouble with the law or school. I am just worried what they will think. i have teacher comments and everything, but is that enough. Even if they do accept me, will they look at me funny or judge?? your opinon. I want to major in law and minor in interior design and fashion design. What do you think???

I am not sure what your question is. Do you want to know what to major in? What they will think about what? Hooters?

A bunch of my sorority sisters worked at Hooters and they are all accountants right now. I don’t see why any admissions people or prospective employers need to know about this anyway. I don’t think they will judge you but, if you do tell them, they will probably wonder why because it is, like, totally irrelevant. I never told any institution of higher ed or potential employer I worked at a pizzeria in high school, and it worked out just fine

That said, you cannot major in law and minor in interior design, and while I am not trying to kill your dreams, so far they are really unrealistic. Law is a profession that is ONLY studied at the graduate level. There are sometimes courses in business law or constitutional law at the undergrad level, but hardly a major. You could get a degree in fashion design or interior design and then go to law school.

It sounds like you are pretty confused, which is normal. Why not just pick a school in the part of the world you’d like to study in, which has a broad curriculum and offers all of the areas of study you are considering? After a few semesters, you will have a clearer picture of what you want, what you like, and what you are capable of.

If you are applying to fundamentalist religious colleges you might have a problem, but otherwise most are not that judgmental, and Hooters is legal employment. If you are so worried about how people will look at you, you probably need to find another job just for your own comfort!

What? Do you have to tell them you work at Hooters? If you are Valedictorian I don’t think they will care that you made some money by being a waitress at Hooters.

When applying for College, admissions NEVER asks for where you work. So, don’t worry about it!

The only thing admissions is concerned is how well you did in High School. Outside of school, they might be concerned with what volunteer work you did, what awards you recieved, that sort of thing.
