You don’t have to go to college for this but it helps. Just remember: write, write, write, and then write some more. Constantly hone your writing skills.

Look into a creative writing program or an English program that offers creative writing classes. Also do not turn down a chance to attend workshops, especially if established authors are teaching or at least on the agenda for presentations, readings, or question and answers.

Good luck to you. Pursue your dream of becoming a writer.

No, you do no longer might desire to have long previous to college. The publishers won’t in any respect seem at your CV, they are going to look at your manuscript and your manuscript purely. although, like cathrl suggested, a school preparation – relatively a literary one – is an evident help in getting to grasp the craft. somebody else suggested maximum large authors are large readers first and that’s some thing that a literary college preparation provides you help to with. It provide you with the two the literary wisdom and the analytic procedures to understand what a singular is and how it works, as properly using fact the cultural background all of us share. in regards to the Bible argument that substitute into made, i could say that on a similar time as i does no longer say it is impossible to write down with no need examine it, a author might desire to be conscious that the Bible is a huge impression on the approach to existence of the Judeo-Christian international and consequently sure, it particularly is between the biggest texts to correctly known and learn.

Definitely go to university.

1. You’ll broaden your experience, widen your intellectual horizons, and therefore have more things to write about.

2. You’ll read a lot which always improves writing.

3. You’ll write a lot, and hopefully you can point out to your professors that you’re interested in a career as an author, so would they please pay special attention to the construction of your work.

4. Probably major in English or Journalism.

Of course! Become an English major, a Philosophy major, or a Psychology major… A college education can only help your writing skills.

It all depends on what you want to write about. I write books on the paranormal and want to write actual textbooks, so I’m going to college for Psychology. If you want to write children’s books you can do what my sister is doing and go to school for Illustration. My Short Stories class professor went to school for Literature. It all depends on what you’d like to write about and what audience you’ll be marketing it to! It may even be valuable to go to a college that does its own publishing as it’s usually cheaper for a student to publish through their school’s publisher.
