i want to apply at a college in washington state but i live in ohio, will this be a problem?

There probably won’t be any problems, except that usually if you are from out of state, you have to pay a far higher tuition rate, since you (or your parents) haven’t paid the taxes which subsidize tuition for in-state residents. Whether being from out of state will help or hurt you depends on several things. First of all, most state universities were founded on a mandate from the voters in that state to provide educated employees in that state. So their first priority is to educate the teachers, nurses, businesspeople, etc., that would be required in Washington. If the school (or your major) is very appealing to in-state residents, you may not get in because they need to serve those people first. On the other hand, if the school is having a hard time attracting students, an out-of-state student who would bring in more tuition might be very appealing. It is hard to know, because most schools will not admit to you that they are having trouble attracting students!

As to whether or not Eastern Washington is a good school, it is okay. If you were trying to decide between a prestigious school and this one, I would ask why, but it is a fairly standard state university.

Applying to an out of state school is no harder than applying to one 2 miles away. The process is exactly the same.

Go to the school’s website. Read the requirements for acceptance and if you meet them go ahead and get an application, fill it out and send it in.

It might be harder to get into an out of state school and it will generally be more expensive to attend than an in-state school but the application process will not be a problem. It is a wise decision to apply to as many of your top choice schools as possible and then make your selection based on the applications that get accepted. It’s much better to have choices.

I don’t see why you shouldn’t be able to apply to that school. Just be aware that you will be charged an out of state residency, which is usually three times higher than the in area residency. The only way I know of getting out of paying that out of area residency is if you are a transfering military family on orders.

try asking your counselor at school that may help…but you can always go visit their site and the only problem you may end up having is financially because you’re an out-of-state student….and transportation but that’s about it….

your parents might miss you too =P

but other than that applying shouldn’t be a problem!

the problem you will probably have is if your wanting financial aid. Because you have to live in the state your attending school for a year to receive it. At least that is the problem I found here where i live.

no. just higher tution costs for out of state schooling, and the best way is too take a tour, cause what may be great too someone else may not live up too your expectations

Not if you have decent grades and scores. You will also want to apply for the out-of-state tuition waver scholarship if they have one, but be prepared to pay more for tuition if you don’t get one. Lots of people go to out-of-state schools, including me.

only one; you have to make the trip to Washington, other words it depends on you’re grades and status like any collage in the US.
