The College Board will tell you that the SAT measures your reasoning and analytical ability. Test prep places such as Princeton Review and Kaplan will tell you that the SAT measures your ability to take the SAT. The truth is somewhere in between.
If you do well in school because you understand the material and you are able to read and write well, you should do okay. You can improve your score by practicing taking the SAT. The College Board site (www.collegeboard.com) offers a lot of free resources to help you prepare. Use them! Applying good test-taking skills can make a noticeable difference. Being familiar with the types of questions you will see will also make a difference.
As much as anything else, the SAT is an endurance test. Counting the time it takes you to complete the info section at the beginning, you could be sitting at a desk for nearly five hours with very little break time. A lot of people who take the SAT’s for the first time are not prepared for the physical part of it and they begin to fade in the later sections.
But 2200, that’s easy. I have a 2270.
If you’d like my big long spiel about doing well, knowing the test, and my tips for it, I’ll give you that too.

If you want some help (I don’t claim to be wonderful or anything, but I do have experience with the test) you can read my answer to that one. The other answerers gave some good advice, too.
Good luck!
