I Need Help With Writing A Story.?

The best love stories are generally about:

I) A problem that keeps two people from falling for each other, which eventually becomes resolved (e.g., Pride and Prejudice, Much Ado About Nothing, Taming of the Shrew)

II) A problem that keeps two people who recently fell in love from being together (e.g., Pyrimus and Thisbe, Romeo and Juliet, Jude the Obscure)

III) Two people who are already together in a love relationship who are separated by a problem (e.g., Odyssey, Hamlet)

Possible problems:

family, parents, society, war, famine, poverty, natural disaster, social class differences, racism, disease, etc.

If you want to make it a “sappy” romance, then just make a simple problem and simple resolution. If you want to make a “good” romance, do a really complex problem/resolution but still a happy ending (actually really hard to do well).

Some of the greatest love stories have a war as a backdrop like Gone with the Wind and War and Peace.

Start with what you know, write mushy love stuff as you intertwine the complications that war, crime, and mystery can introduce to these situation.

You’ll come up with a great idea and the facts that you already know can play down your shortcomings.

The balmy breeze caressed her skin as she worked her way down the beach. Warm summer waves beat a rhythmic pattern on the shore. Shading her eyes from the glare of the sun she noticed a silhouette on the horizon. (You will have to take it from here…….)

Start something like Tom and Jane were neighbors and friends all through school. The met in kindergarten. And then go on an tell how the dated with others. THen how they dated on their own and fell in love. and married.
