UNSW. The teaching style is more of a combination where you are taught how to do things and what not to do when you are being judged by the jury. The facilities in UNSW are okay. You have decent workshops and UNSW has been greatly credited for being able to make designs on theories. UNSW is more theory based.
The problem is that… you don’t have good facilities for wood work shops and so on. As a 4th year architect student, I am really angry at this because I want to work in the wood shop on my projects because I am poor broke due to my projects.
UNI of sydney is a very practical hands on college. Here you may not have advance computer technology software such as the latest version of 3ds max and other handy dandy software but you have a work shop. And a flipping machine that makes 3d models. Well it prints 3d models.
Geography of the campuses:
UNSW (University of new south wales) is unified. It’s all in one area so that you don’t get lost that easily.
Uni of Sydney… is fragmented. It’s based in the cbd therefore if you have classes in different departments, you would need to travel by a bike to get to your destination in campus. You do cross roads and you can easily get lost.
Tuition fee:
It’s quite decent. AU$18000 for a year is not that bad. Compared to other universities, this is a bargain. America is too bloody expensive mate. US$40,000 for a year in Wentworth…
Accomadations: I say it’s pretty decent. You better shop around for a place because things are getting expensive. You better shop for places that have water and electricity inclusive of your rent. make sure you are close to your uni because I used to live in Fair Field… 2 hours away from uni one way. Do not ever go more than 2 hours travel distance from uni. If you are in architecture like me… you’ll go mentally insane. I did… it was not pretty but i moved closer to uni and it was great.
