Now is the time to learn: Answer sheets aren’t always right.

In this case, you are.

You would write the x-intercept as Y=-6, or (0,-6)

the y-intercept as X = 3.33, or (3.33, 0)

There can only be one x and y intercept in this problem, as the equation is that of a straight line.

Think about it for a second: The y intercept is the place where the line crosses the y axis. When does the line cross the y axis? When x = 0. And the x intercept is the place where the line crosses the x axis which happens when y = 0.

So if you plug in x = 0 into the equation you get 9 * 0 – 5y = 30 so -5y = 30 and therefore y = -6. So the y intercept is (0, -6). Now try and figure out the x interecept

both answers should have a 0 somewhere, set y = 0 so your answer will be (x, 0) then set x to 0 and your answer will be (0, y)
