I didn’t get Geometry at ALL? But I passed cause the teacher was an easy grader, but I failed all the tests?

I would defenately get a tutor this new comming year.

I would also start studying now on all the things you missed and try and catch up! You should even get a tutor for the remainder of the summer.

What? You don’t want to blow half of your summer on Geometry?

Well, you’ll be regreting it for thr rest of your life if you don’t, because being a secretary or a mailman is not fun. Bein a Vice President of a company is.

So “blow” half a summer, I’m blowing mine on an intence english course at a local college when I could be surfing with my friends. But I know I’ll be better of later in life, and that’s WAY more important.

So do this for yourself. Muster up the willpower and you can make it!

You’ve got lots of good advice in the answers, but I’m wondering WHY is geometry difficult for you? Geometry requires good spatial perception which you may not have. Spatial perception has nothing to do with IQ, but can influence how you physically ‘see’ something like a diagram. For instance, some people have trouble reading maps.

If you are having this kind of difficulty, you most likely will dislike geometry because visually it really doesn’t make sense to your brain.

Tutoring that specifically addresses the spatial recognition issue wll help. First, though, you should ask the school’s special ed. department to test you. If they won’t do it willingly (and typically, if you are passing other classes with a C, they won’t) you need to be very demanding, and write letters about them complying with the law. (IDEA).

As far as your life and career being doomed–no, that won’t happen. Getting into a top university might be hard, but you can start in community college and do only the math classes that require minimal geometry. That’s what I did, and then I transfered to UC Berkeley, and graduated from there with high honors (though not in math!).

Good luck–you’ve got good street smarts and those will be a bigger help in life than geometry.

I didn’t get Geometry either. I actually failed 1st semester with a 68. But was able to average the two semesters out with the 80 that I got 2nd semester, but I still always failed test after test. I don’t think that it will hurt you in Algebra 2. I found that I passed that subject with A’s the next year. Algebra 2 has almost nothing to do with Geometry, just the fact that you’re going to have to work some problems out that involve different geometrical shapes. But still try to improve on Geometry, because you will never when you’re going to need to know it (e.g. SAT’s or ACT’s).

Algebra I prepares you for Algebra II more than Geometry, but you will continue to have Geometry in Algebra II. Your teacher ripped you off by going easy on you. I would get a tutor if I were taking Algebra II after such a lightweight year in Geometry.

In fairness, I don’t think Geometry ‘clicked’ for me until I was in my last math class in college. All of the sudden it made sense. So keep trying to understand it and maybe your brain will catch up.

In my opinion, the teacher sure cheated you. Grades should never be just ‘given away’. It hurts the student in the long run. The next teacher you get in math may not be too lazy to teach and may fail you if you don’t do well enough on tests since you have no math skills to bring in. Get a tutor to help you catch up this summer is my advice. Good luck.

You did yourself even a bigger disservice by accepting these low standards.

Any time you cheat, or expect less from yourself than you are capable of doing you cheat yourself even more.

What you really cannot afford is to solidify such an attitude, and work ethic for yourself, since there is no doubt this will ultimately carry over in many other area’s of your life; if it has not already.

Expect little; achieve even less.

Expect more, and you may surprise yourself at what you are capable off.
