Get to know your room mate first, because you want to have a good relationship with them, since you’ll be living with them. Get involved with some clubs first, just to get to know people. Study groups are good for making friends. Unless they are really stuck up, most people won’t just brush you off. Study hard. It will pay off. Get all work done before going out. You’ll be thankful for getting it done earlier. If you don’t understand something, always talk to your professors first, ask for progress on your grades, and you’ll be fine.

Try not to get distracted by all that goes on. As far as your future transfer goes make sure the classes you are taking will be accepted at in Chicago. You don’t want to end up in a situation where you have to repeat a class or they take it as blanket credit.

This is something someone told me, and I stick to it…

If you go into the wrong class on the first day of the semester, just stay in there. You look like a bigger idiot leaving a class, wandering around looking for the right one, and then walking into the right one late then if you just miss the first day and find the correct class the next day.

have you ever been assigned a counselor yet? Make appointment with that guy or woman and lay your fears out on the carpet with him/her. that’s what they’re there for–to help you via those demanding circumstances. Ask to be assigned to a mentor additionally. An top classman, or classwoman, whichever the case may be. on occasion merely going someplace quiet helps with tension, want to a park, a walk in a woods,or botanical backyard calms you down, refreshes your soul, so as to talk. I choose you nicely on your new journey.

Especially since you are transferring, I would study, study, study. Although you need time to relax, don’t forget the reason you are in school. After you transfer, you will have time to get to know classmates, make friends and know professors likes and dislikes.

ask those who have taken many classes you will need to recommend professors and times to take the courses (in the morning? after you’ve completed another course?). It can save you many headaches.

also, find out ahead of time what resources are offered at your institution. It may makes things a whole lot easier when you need them later.

Be prepared to work hard. Start or get with a study group.

You will learn more and faster.

College will get easier once you get used to it.

In the beginning though, you will work hard.

But trust me, stick with it and it will get easier. I think halfway through, you will most likely love it and want to continue.

Make sure that, unlike a surprising number of college students, you actually understand how to avoid pregnancy and properly use birth control.
