I am creating a book, involving knowledge. Please help me out fulfill it.?

I grew up going to a school that never taught, currently in a school that’s great and actually teaches, but I believe I’m behind.Since,I’m spending my isolated summer at home..as usual.I decide to make a book, well it’s a folder with different sections. In this book I would like to add as many things as possible, important things

I added these sections in the book(Health-common disorders|History|Government|Science| And more to come..

I have Dsycalculia and I lack the ability of being good in math very badly but I believe that needs special care so i’ll work extra hard on that.

I bring my self down a lot to the point where I call myself a failure, I don’t have much self confidence perhaps even low self esteem.Gathering information in this book will help me gain knowledge,Although knowledge may be acquire by observing one may study.I am positive each one of you are intelligent individual with unique qualities. What else should I fill in this book?

HelloMotto,

I believe I wrote to you a little while ago on your math topic. I am glad to hear a more positive note in your writing but I am still curious as to why you are “isolated at home”.

As for your book, the topic you are attempting is quite large and perhaps you need to consider narrowing your focus down a little. There are libraries full of books on sections of the topic you have here.

Might I suggest that you consider those areas that interest you the most and about which you know the most. For example, there are many disorders that you could be writing about but you have stated that you have Dsycalculia. This learning disability is impacting YOUR life. Why not focus on it and perhaps you can gets more information on how to deal with your concerns on a realistic level. (I, by the way, have dysgraphia so I have to go back and re-read everything I write to check for words that I thought I wrote but didn’t.).

So, you recognize that you have something that makes math more difficult for you but is at the same time something you can’t “fix” by wearing a pair of glasses for example. There are strategies you can learn that will help you such as using lines to keep your columns straight and boxes to put your numbers in. (Graph paper is really helpful here).

Good luck.

Make a section called “Slice-of-Life Observations.” This section is day-to-day (slice-of-life) that YOU observe. If you like the outdoors, for example, what did you observe, at some point today, whether you merely looked through a window or went outside, that made you stop and breifly pause? I’ll give you an example of what I’m talking about:

The party of three of us were eating lunch around 12:30 PM today, and the most beautiful rain came pouring from the heavens. Many people probably moaned, since we have had much the last few months. This rain had its on unique qualities—as they all do. Each drop of rain seemed to fall like a long silver pin to the ground, reaching, reaching. No silver pin-like drop knew that it played an important role in that “heavenly design” at that moment. The harder the rain fell, the harder the silver pins reached. All of the plants welcomed their frequent visitor–a strange phenomenon in this part of the country because, normally, rainy summer days are “few and far between.”

How I’ve enjoyed the frequent rains, the steamy hot smell that comes when a door is opened. Soon, “heaven’s faucet” will “leak no more” for a time. In the meantime, I’ll enjoy the billowing dove-gray clouds just before the rain. I’ll enjoy the over-all beauty when this happens ANY time.

Start by reading and then taking notes (in your own words–not copying even a sentence) because this forces your mind to work with the material. (It’s like the difference between driving somewhere and riding there. Who knows how to get there better? Almost always the driver.)

Read basic encyclopedia from A to Z. I like New Book of Knowledge because it has great pictures, is written by real scholars, and my children loved it it too. If you come to boring articles, skim them and go on. Eventually, you’ll find topics you’re really interested in and you can concentrate more on those. Lots of people have interests, but they don’t know the basic things about it. You won’t have that problem and will have lots of “hooks” for your new school knowledge to hang on in the closet we call our brain.

Honey, u are no failure. Ur wish to improve makes that clear. What sort of knowledge do u want? Health – I am diabetic – my pancreas doesn’t work properly so I don’t produce enough insulin. History, I love ancient history – pyramids of Egypt, Myths/legends of Greece and Rome.Music – I play lots of stringed instruments.I taught full-time for 30 years, so i’ve covered lots of different subjects. Come back to me thru Yahoo answers if u like, with some specific ideas, & I’ll see what I can do. Hope this helps.
