I’ve never heard that you have to be a particular age but it would depend on the company and the field you are going into.

Good luck!

Depends on what you mean by apprenticeship. I’m used to seeing the word in relation to skilled crafts. I have a BS degree yet at 52 years old I took an apprenticeship to become a meterman, which is a very specialized slot in the electric utility industry. I had 27 years of seniority in our union and had been on the list for over 14 years. Yet, right now, apprenticeships are going to kids who have only been working for the company 3 to 5 years. Particularly in the electric industry Companies have shot themselves in the foot by freezing jobs for the last 15 years. They thought they could hire off the street but the only people available are older guys like myself who happen to want to move. And, the entire set of skilled workers are approaching retirement with no one to replace them. Incidentally, I got my BS at 41 while working full time. The apprenticeship I took was the hardest studies I ever did this side of getting my pilot’s license. Some apprenticeships are quite intellectually demanding. Some, like lineman, are physically grueling.

It would all depend on the type of business you’re looking at, and your maturity level. A known contact in the company would surely help too!
