how many years (of college) does it take to become a veterinarian?
ive always wanted to be a veterinarian since i was 4 or 5 years old. college is only a few of years away for me, and i was wondering how many years of study will it take to become a veterinarian (from least amount to greatest amount of years)? and what advice do you have in order for me to reach my goal?
i know that i need to study very hard (im doing really well in school right now), and that i should volunteer at animal shelters (which i am doing), but what else can help me in pursuing this career goal?

4 yrs college + 4 yrs vet school = 8 yrs

It’s pretty much like becoming a people doctor. You need 4 years undergrad in pre-med or such, followed by veterinarian studies-probably 4 years. Then, if you want to specialize, say in small animals, farm animals, wildlife or whatever you will need specialized training in that discipline.

Get an excellent GPA in undergrad, vet school is more competitive than medical school so the better you do the better your chance of getting accepted.

I believe 8, my nephew was thinking of going to school for that, but he has become a lazy *** so I doubt he will.
