Well depending on your age and how fast you learn notes and songs. How often you practice which if you practice each song everyday till your next piano lesson you might have already get that song crossed off and move on to another song. I am 14 and i have been learning piano since 2003. My piano teacher teaches a lot and it takes about 7 years to learn piano from her.

It does not matter how old you are. It depends on how much you want it. Learning to play piano comes with lots of practice. I have been playing Piano for about 2 years and I am still learning. You can start playing within weeks if you work hard. Its meledy and sounds that takes years to achive

Thats a fairly open ended question and not one thats very easy to answer. To get to grade 7 level you would expect somewhere in the order of 10-15 years. Basic chords you could pick up in a few lessons.

There are many aspects to learning how to play any instrument. Firstly they have to teach you the keys on the piano. Then they need to teach you how to read sheet music. If you have zero hand eye co-ordination or little manual dexterity you may never pick it up.

You may never learn to read sheet music, some people can play entire concerto’s by ear.
