How long does it take to get a teaching certificate?
I just got hired as an assistant teacher in a special needs school. My job starts August 17th. I was told that if I like the job, I can go back to school to get my teaching certificate and they will assist me with payment.
I have a bachelors degree in broadcast media. How long would it take me to get a teaching certificate? Why classes would I need to take? Would this certificate be considered a masters? Thanks

It took me 2 years to complete my teaching certificate along with a master degree in education. Usually, you can just take the classes for the credential, but there is always the option of writing a thesis for the masters. You should contact your local university to see what programs they offer.
Have fun at your new job. My school for dyslexic kids start on August 15th. My summer is getting short, but I am ready to get back to the kids and doing what I lover.

No, the teaching certificate would not be considered a Master’s degree. That is a totally different thing. You would have to check with the college to see what classes you have to take, and what courses, that you already took, will count towards your teaching degree and certificate.
