you can usually wait until the first day of class, the instructor will hand out a syllabus and required text list. if you’re really antsy, you can go to the college bookstore and they can tell you what books you need if the instructor has told the bookstore.

This works differently at different schools, but there are a few possibilities. At some schools, the campus bookstore’s website will tell you which books you need for each class. The advantage to that is that it makes it easy for you to look up what you need, then go online and find out if you can find the books elswhere more inexpensively. If there isn’t a website, you can always go to the school’s bookstore and find out which books are required. If you don’t live near your school, this may mean waiting until just before classes start, which means that you can’t really order from any place other than the bookstore without falling behind in your reading while waiting for the books to arrive.

Check your schools website to see if you can access their textbooks through the bookstore. If your school doesn’t have one, go to your school bookstore and tell the people that work there what classes you are taking. They will help you. A great tip since you are a new college student, take down the isbn # (the number below the scan code on the back of the textbook) from the textbook. Buy your books on half.com or ebay. The bookstores charge ALOT for textbooks! You’ll save ALOT of money on the website. It also doesn’t hurt to check amazon.com or any other websites! Good Luck on your first semester!

Usually you can go to the campus bookstore with your class schedule and look up the books you need. Copy down the titles and just go online to get them. It’s generally alot cheaper to do it this way. You could also wait until classes start and check the syllabus from each class to find out which books you need. The text books generally aren’t required until the second week, if at all.

Don’t forget to check the bulletin boards at the school for students selling used books. If they are the same edition they are as good as a new one for much less money. They may even have some useful notes in them. LOL

Information regarding stationary texts etc should be told to you during orientation week, if there is one, or at your first class. Don’t worry, everyone else is in the same situation. Good luck with your studies. Borrow from the library where possible, books are expensive!!
