how do you get mail if you are at college?
How could a package get sent to you at a college with many dorms?

All mail facilities will put some sort of package notice in your mailbox which you would bring to the counter to get the package. Mind you, I had a large number of packages that “never arrived” in college, so make sure it is trackable.

Each dorm has an address and each dorm room has a number. The package will be sent to a specific address (building) and to a specific room. (presumably yours)
i.e. John Doe

Building #1104 Room 36

If you live in a dorm, you have your own box. My college has it’s own little post office. I’ve seen some colleges where they have the boxes in the dorm lobbies (if the package doesn’t fit in the box, they’ll put a notice in your box and you’ll have to go to the college’s little post office to pick it up). They should give you a key to a box when they give you your dorm room key (or at orientation). If you have a roomate, you’ll still have a separate p.o. box than he/she.

Check your college’s website to see if they have mailing addresses for students. You should have received information about this as schools are beginning in a month. I would also suggest calling the school and find out what your mailing address will be.
