How do I go about taking a Mensa-qualified intelligence test?
I am hoping to take the Standford Binet, Stanford Binet 5, or other Mensa-qualified test. Their website (www.mensa.org) is very helpful about which tests are usable for entrance, but is not particularly helpful when it comes to finding out how to actually take them! Do I contact a “random” psychologist in my area to see if they administer them?
I have never taken a full-blown intelligence test, but was in gifted education all through school and have wanted to be in Mensa since I first learned about it at age 11. The reason I want to go with a “normal” intelligence test instead of the Mensa testing is that they allow for an actual IQ number, not a test score. (I know IQ really doesn’t mean a whole lot, but it’s difficult when your fiance actually KNOWS what his is and you don’t!)

there are plenty of IQ tests you can take online which should be pretty accurate within a few points of what you would score on an official test – they must have info somewhere on their site or a contact email address where you ask where to take the actual test. I have an IQ of about 130 – borderline eligible, but was only an average student thru HS – less than 3.0 GPA – only made honor roll 5 quarters out of 16 in 4 yrs,and finished in the bottom 20% of college grad class 2.6 GPA and I’ll make close to 100K for the second yr in a row this yr and have 2 successful part time businesses in addition to my full time job – so being in gifted program doesn’t guarantee anything. I’m more self taught in my more valuable, marketable skills areas. From what I’ve read, Mensa people are uppity snobs anyway – I wouldn’t join if they invited me for free
