how do i become an architect?

You think you can, but in reality you probably can’t. You needs to understand higher math, and an oodle of thing to become an architect. There is no way to become an architect without getting a degree. You can do architectural drafting and some minor things, but no one will let you design a house without credentials as a board certified architect. The thing you design can collapse on them at any time.

Because of the technological, engineering and safety requirements of building codes, you will probably not be able to design houses without a degree, unless you work under the supervision of a licensed architect. Why don’t you study and train to do CAD work and then you can work for an architect or design your own houses for fun. You just can’t build them.

But better still, go to college and get qualified, even if it takes a while. What is holding you back from doing what you love? And don’t say money, because you can work or get loans to pay for your own education. And when you finish, you will be a real architect and be making real money at it.

Go to college. There are more and more programs and what not you really need to study in college to become a respected architect. A college degree is the status quo anymore. You need to know the basics of drafting and design. Along with knowing the programs companies use regularly anymore. There is zoning ordinances and other things that you need to know as well. So put in the time and get the credentials u need as it will benefit you more in the long run.

Degree only. Not the stuff you can teach yourself out of standard books.

If you just want to design for fun, then design for fun. But if you actually plan to build one of these houses, hire an architect or structural engineer to adjust your designs to make them safe and realistic.

Architects have lots of schooling, followed by years of on the job training. It doesn’t just happen because you read some books.
